The Adult Autism Introductory Course is an online self-paced interactive learning module.
This module covers similar material taught in the Mindful half day live webinar ‘ASD & Adults Introductory’.
This module provides education to adult mental health clinicians about autism. No previous knowledge of autism is assumed.

This course aims to raise awareness of the prevalence of autism in adulthood, as well as help clinicians to think differently about their approach to adult mental health so that they are more likely to consider autism when working with adults.

This session will cover:

During this course you will learn to:
1. Identify how our understanding of autism has changed from the 20th century to the 21st century
2. Understand the importance of considering a diagnosis of autism in adults with a co-occurring mental illness
3. Identify potential features of autism in adults that would benefit from further assessment
4. Identify the potential differences and similarities between the presentation of autism and mental health conditions in adults
5. Identify adaptations that may be used to modify mental health practice to better meet the needs of autistic clients.

Fully subsidised (free) for Victorian AMHS clinicians (including Forensicare).
Subsidised rate of $60 is available for Victorian CYMHS/CAMHS, Orygen, ACCHO/ACCHS, Take Two and Headspace clinicians.
