Description

Refugee and asylum seeking experiences tear at the social fabric tying people together. This workshop will explore some of the potential far-reaching impacts of collective trauma for communities in the resettlement context, and potential recovery processes.
Practitioners will be introduced to Foundation House’s Trauma Recovery Framework.
This workshop will comprise a panel of speakers, including members from refugee backgrounds.

This event will cover:

  • Exploration of concepts such as trans-generational trauma and collective trauma;
  • Foundation House’s Trauma Recovery Framework;
  • Reflections on the collective impact of trauma from members of diaspora communities; and
  • Consideration of ways to facilitate connection and longer-term recovery in communities who have experienced collective trauma.

Eligibility criteria

This is suitable for those interested in working with communities whose members may be from refugee backgrounds, eg. bicultural workers, community development workers, education and early years professionals, those working in policy roles, community health workers and managers.

Pre-requisite
Participants will be expected to have completed either a Foundation House Introductory workshop, or ‘Refugee and Asylum Seeking Experiences’ Online.
The online option is available free as a pre-requisite when you register for this workshop.
